On September 2nd 2021 I went to see the spectacular band “The Murder Capital” perform live. The Murder Capital are an upcoming Irish post-punk band who released their first studio album “When I Have Fears” in 2019. This band consists of 5 members a vocalist, a drummer, two guitarists and a bassist. Previously to the night I had only listened to small amount of their music however I was pleasantly surprised by the immense energy and enthusiastic vocals produced by the band and audience.

The concerts venue was the very randomly placed Tunbridge wells forum. From the outside this venue didn’t look like much more than a tiny building in the middle of nowhere however the inside felt magical with hanging lights and pretty pictures everywhere. As mentioned it was a very small venue with a capacity of 250 people however I loved this as it created a very friendly atmosphere with everyone close together and near the stage. As this was The Murder Capitals first show since the UK going into lockdown, there was no support band. Doors opened at 7 and the band was on by about 8. As soon as they only have one album it wasn’t an extremely lengthy show with only 13 songs being performed, including 4 new songs.

As soon as the band advanced onto the stage I could tell this concert was going to have crazy, immense energy. The band were already ecstatic and ready to bring the roof down and the audience were shouting and jumping with thrill. Although every member was amazing, the bassist Gabriel Pascal Blake left an extraordinary impression on me because the entire show he kept electrified energy bouncing around and giving the performance everything he had. The lead singer also had amazing energy high fiving and speaking to audience members while still providing remarkable vocals.

Despite there being some younger fans there I would say the fandom mainly consists of ages 40-60. There is a murder capital fan club who follow the band all across the world and meet up before, during and after shows as well as send each other pictures and videos from the concerts. Regardless of the audiences age they brought my roof down creating an ecstatic mosh pit and some people even mosh fit surfing across the audience.

Overall, I would defiantly recommended going to see the band due to their fantastic music and magnificent performing skills. I would recommended you listen the The Murder Capital if you like bands such as Fontaines D.C, Shame and Heavy Lungs as they have a similar style of music.
