On June 3rd I went to see Liam Gallagher live at Knebworth park. This is an iconic venue for Oasis fans as they performed there in 1996 to 125,000 per night which was the biggest crowd ever at the time. Obviously, Oasis is no longer together but Liam one of the ex-members played Knebworth again in 2022 for two nights. Across the two nights Liam played to 160,000 people which is again an incredibly huge crowd to be a part of.

Knebworth was open for the whole day with a few different support acts performing across the day. I didn’t arrive at the very beginning as it was very hot out and I didn’t want to be outside for the whole day however I got there just before the band ‘amyl and the sniffers’ performed. This is an Australian indie/alternative band. Lots of people nearer the front seemed to know the band and dance and sing along. The next support act was Paolo Nutini who to be honest I had never heard of before however my older siblings were fans. Although his performance and singing was good, they were slightly disappointed, as he didn’t play any of his most popular songs. The final support band was Kasabian who were incredible. The crowd knew a lot of their songs and near the front it looked like carnage with an insane mosh pit to their songs especially during fire. Kasabian were great performers and I completely understand why Liam chose them to perform as they got the whole crowd ecstatic before Liam even came on.

Liam entered the stage singing Hello an Oasis song and his performance was legendary. The entire crowd was thrilled throughout the entire show. There is no better feeling than singing along to famed Oasis songs like wonderwall with 80,000 other people. Similarly, being up on my brother’s shoulder and looking across the massive audience which can’t even be captured on camera was something ill remember forever. Online I even saw videos of people proposing to their girlfriends at the show which shows how much it meant to everyone to be there.  Furthermore, I love Liam’s solo music especially the song Once which was one of my favourites to see live. Liam has a certain vibe when he performs that is hard to explain. He has a remarkable confidence even when stood in front of thousands of people.

I adored the setlist as it consisted perfectly of a good mix of both Liam’s own songs and Oasis songs. He did however create an entire encore of some of the most popular and iconic Oasis songs such as Wonderwall and Supersonic. This was the perfect way to end Knebworth as that’s what much of the crowd was there for and some of the most popular songs in British history. At the end of the show there was also fireworks across the field and behind the stage. This was simple to do but so effective as it looked spectacular in the dark.
